If you've never been to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota and were wondering what it's like you can waste a half hour and watch my video I shot while piloting the Vette from one end to the other. This was filmed last month while I was out West on my "Bucket List Tour". The wife and I drove 5400 miles in 2 weeks.

I'd love more information about where you entered (I'm assuming the Northeast Entrance), where you stayed, how many days in the park itself, etc. We've been to South Dakota and Yellowstone a few times, but never had time to stop at Badlands, so this would be a great future trip

Wonderful video. I was there last year, but not with the vette.

I hope you stopped often, as I saw you drive by many of the more famous stopping points and parking lots. I drive through the Badlands 3-4 times a year, but then I live in SD. When you visit SD there are several other drives that are great in a Corvette or any other car for that matter. They are the Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon drive, and Iron Mountain Road, all in the Black Hills. Be sure to do the last one from south to north so Mt. Rushmore is visible through the tunnels in your windshield instead of your rear view mirror. The last drive also has the famous wooden pig-tail bridges. Then you can continue on to the western part of the Black Hills to Devil's Tower. But if you attend the Black Hills Corvette Classic Rally next July, these drives are all part of the tours you can go on with many other Corvettes!

We drove through the paved part of the park on Hwy 240 and stopped at a few of the pull offs so we only spent maybe 4 or so hours there in total. We were pretty rushed on this trip due to a jam packed itinerary. That first night we stayed at the "White House" in Keystone SD. I DO NOT suggest staying here, it was a dump.

Here is the route depicted in the video:

As stated before, we covered 5400 miles in 2 weeks and with all the different locations we tried to hit it didn't leave much room for lollygagging! We did get a chance to drive through the Needles and I'm still editing those videos. Spent 2 and a half days in Yellowstone and got to see most of it. We drove out to Devils Tower too. The wife and I have already promised each other we'd be back out there before too long so we could take a bit more time and do some hiking. We were with my older brother and his wife on this trip and we had way too many places to see and go... not enough hours in the day unfortunately!

Sounds like our trips, too much to see and too little time to do so. I'd like to get back out there for 10 days to 2 weeks sometime. Years ago I did 5600 miles in 7 days, that trip had a lot of Griswald stops at the Grand Canyon :D

Great video! :cert:
Been there a few times. Saw some familiar turf in your vid.
I have folks in Gregory, Winner, and Wood, SD. So I love hitting the Black hills and the Badlands when I visit.

I spent a little over a month at Ellsworth AFB in Box Elder back in 2001. On the weekends, we ran our asses off. Badlands was just one of the destinations. Had a great time up that way, but decided that I dang sure wouldn't want to live up there on a permanent basis. Looks like you had a great time!!!:seasix:
