Just as Brett Favre of Southern Miss was leaving the field in his Pro Football Hall of Fame sports coat, wearing his new Hall of Fame ring, Dak Prescott of Mississippi State, wearing No. 4, was coming back onto the field to resume his especial play as a rookie for the Dallas Cowboys.

This was at the end of halftime ceremonies honoring Favre, unveiling his name on the stadium at Lambeau Field.

“I just told him I was very impressed with his play and poise,” Favre said in a text message Monday.

Afterward, Favre said what anybody with eyes can see. That Dak Prescott should be the Cowboys quarterback going forward. And it’s not just Favre who says it. Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach and others have weighed in. Prescott has earned the No. 1 quarterback job. You don’t switch back when you’ve won five straight and the rookie is playing like a seasoned All-Pro. No, you hold the now-brittle veteran in reserve in case the rookie slumps, which doesn’t seem likely at this point.

agreed....a lot of cowboys fans aorund here's take on it is put romo in for the first gme when he's ready, knowing he's gonna get hurt again and controversy over.

personally, i'd like to see romo KNOW that he lost his job, and not because of injury. I am not a cowboys fan, but this kid is turning me into one.

I like this kid, very impressive I don't think Romo has the support of the players like this guy has. You can feel the excitement of the Dallas fans in the stadium as opposed to when Romo was in there. I think Romo should sit and support the rookie but I don't see it happening. Jones will put Romo back in and kill the chemistry of the team. I hope they BOO Romo if they put him back in.

My FB post last Sunday. :leaving:

To any Clinton officials following this feed.....I'm pretty sure Jerry Jones is one of your leaks.

In my opinion, Tony Romo has always been a backup caliber quarterback. Dallas needs to finally wise up and stop hitching their wagon to Romo. I'm not a Dallas fan, but they've been suffering through this mediocre quarterback for years. They finally have an opportunity to have a quarterback that shows real promise and potential.

Most starting quaterbacks coming out of the SEC are pretty talented. Prescott is no exception.

If Dallas puts Romo back in and benches Prescott, they get what they deserve.
