I want to put the new hard wired Ring video doorbell in. Anybody know how much it costs to run the wires?

The electrician I called charged $99 for the call, which included the first hour. Anything beyond the first how was time & materials.

There are no existing wires there.

As above, if a doorbell exists, then you should have power available. To install doorbell wiring, you'll need to pull door casing, run wiring to nearest power source. Remember that a doorbell has a low voltage transformer so that will need a place as well.
The video doorbell should connect to your wireless router via software app. make sure you assign a good password and delete the start up admin password.

EDIT : I know you ask about cost-but since this is work on an existing system, it depends on difficulty of above. Plus most electricians don't like to do carpentry work.

I installed a wired doorbell in our house several years ago, and ran the wiring myself. A little tricky, but I managed to find gaps, spaces, etc. to fish it through. I don't think you'll get an accurate price without an electrician looking at your specific situation; lots of variables.

Looking back, I'm not sure why we installed it. We never answer the door anyway. :Jeff '79:

If I can install doorbells, anybody can do it. All you may need is a 12"-15" long drill bit for the holes and a "fishing" line made of metal. Assuming that you're going to run the wires in the attic, is there an electrical source there (electrical outlet for the transformer)?

I'll agree with the total, but I'll say more labor and less materials :D

There is an electrical outlet on the other side of the wall from where the doorbell goes, next to the door.

I don't know if you can splice off the Romex or wires that already are existing, but you may be able to run a line through the same conduit?

Surely you have a light in the attic..and where there's a light there's a switch you can tap into to power the transformer.

BTW, I won't call you Shirley again....

What model are you considering? The Amazon reviews of the various Ring units would give me pause actually. Sounds like it's something that sorta works some of the time.

Get a nest camera and leave the doorbell as-is.

I have these all around my house and love them, I pay for the 10 day video cloud storage. It is simple to install and works off your wifi network. You get 24/7 video and not just when someone is at your door.
