Fans of 80's TV will of course remember Edward Woodward (OBE) as Robert McCall, The Equalizer. But a few others, myself included, will remember him as the doomed Police Sergeant Neil Howie in the 1973 British thriller The Wicker Man.

He passed away today, at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, apparently of complications of pneumonia. He was 79.

I remember that show as a kid. My parents watched it. Great intro.
