As soon he busted a cap in those mean ole cops, he was going to the Salvation Army to donate his time to those less fortunate. In the video that she released, she can be heard several times calling him by name and telling him "Don't do it" right before or as he got out of the car.

She knew that he was armed and what he was going to do.
