View Full Version : anyone ever turn a room into a shower?

have a maid's room behind our bathroom. our bathroom sucks. wife wants a tub and i want a big ass shower.

room is only about 10x10 and having a hard time with configuration for both a tub and shower, then thought what the hell, build a tub into it and make the whole damn thing a shower, with a tub in it.

anyone got pics of something like this?

What you are describing is typical in European bathrooms, even in hotel. The whole floor is tiled with a floor drain in the center of the room. Shower is just an appliance hanging on the side of the wall.
This isn't exactly what I'm talking about but it's close.

It's really common in Japan as well. My cousin has one, and if I ever build a house, I'm going to do something just like it. Huge tub on one side, shower is outside of the tub, and the door is waterproof.

Never turned a room into a shower, but I've seen people turn bushes into toilets.

I stayed at a hotel in Kansas City that had hourly rates and the bathroom was a sink, toilet, and shower head with a big drain in the middle of the floor. You could, I guess, take a shit and a shower at the same time. It was super gross too, but you could have probably guessed that.

pretty sweet, you can just pee in the tub instead of standing in your own urine :leaving:

thought about that. when i was in napa valley last weekend they had outside showers. I was kinda worried about being cold as it was in the 40's when i showered, but with enough hot water, it seemed to have a good enough steam envelope that it wasn't an issue.

although the idea of a walk-in shower w/ no door is nice...as long as it's not too big.
