60 years of working on cars.....and sure enough, wife complained of a weird sound in the car, rather loud....only there when car moving forward, not reverse....or when still.....but this very loud tone was there when going forward at ANY speed, the frequency of the tone DID NOT VARY with speed.....
I drove the car Friday AM.....it drove ME krazy.....I had neighbor Chuck stand on the road as I went by so he could tell.....left front wheel area.....
Jack it up....engine running, put in gear reverse....nothing, forward yeh, it's there.....take wheel off, secure rotor with lug nutz.....reverse, nothing...forward it's there but kind of quieter.....I get the mechanics stethescope out and nothing with the probe....take the hose around and I can hear it a bit...but not really LOUD.....
I take some rough sandpaper and ride it all over both sides of the rotor pads are new....put it back together and sound is gone....
WTF????
the part that bugs me is that the frequence/tone of the sound did not change with car speed, either in the air, or on the road driving.....
