Had our house on the market one and a half months and only two people looked at it.The realtor said our price was too high.
Then, someone looked at it yesterday. He made an offer then and there.
When we met with the realtor, we learned he offered 90% of our asking price, wanted us to contribute $7,000 towards closing and he wanted us to throw in our little pontoon boat which I was hoping to get $2,500 for it (trolling motor powered).
I countered back at about 95% with the boat and the closing cost as requested. and he agreed. We are happy. We were about to drop our price about 5 percent anyhow.
Now, we gotta get ready to go.
In the middle of all this, my mother is near death so things are really crazy here now.
We will make it though. When the dust settles, we will move permanently to our Florida home and do some RV'ing for a while.

Wow, dejavu to what I have been through in the last six months, right down to the terminally ill relative. Hang in there, and best of luck to you and your family. I lost 20 lbs dealing with all this. (which is okay, I needed to, but not an easy way to do it.)
I wish peace and comfort to your mom.

your realtor... or their realtor ?
I'm curious because around here... a realtor won't take on a listing that is priced (in their opinion) "too high"

Actually, she priced herself and it was very high in comparisom to local sales.
Well I thought it was my realtor. In the offer, it was stated that she was a duel agent, representing the seller and buyer.
That is new to me. I went through realtor school years ago and the common practice was that the realtor always represented the seller as a general rule.

Wow, that's a lot of big changes coming your way. It's really nice when the right buyer comes along but then you realize you're about to turn the page on a big chapter in your life.
I'm jealous about the RVing. I've long wanted to do that to be able to see the plains states etc. Been to all the coastal states a bunch but a nice RV sounds like a great way to relax and see the country.
We'll keep Mom in our prayers as well.

Good luck on the closing and move. Welcome to Florida full time. We need more people like you here.

woow, that's a completely different scenario. Generally in a "dual agent" type sale, the realtor agrees to reduce their fees by up to 50% to the home owner... and sometimes discounts any fees the buyer might pay.
Regardless, now that you know the realtor is on both sides... don't give-in to any additional demands that may be thrown your way. If anything were to come-up, the realtor has plenty of $$$$ of their own to use - to take care of any issues.
