F1 3rd Place Formula 1 Finisher Challenge

Presenting a new challenge for all F1 fans and those other guys! :D

Since we know Mercedes will most likely always finish 1st and 2nd in each of the remaining races this year. The challenge is to predict who will finish 3rd instead. This podium spot is still widely open to many drivers like Kimi, Seb, Valeri, Daniel, Max, Sergio, etc. You can still include Lewis and/or Nico R as one of your picks that race - if you choose.

Everyone can pick up to 5 drivers for each race. They will be ranked in order picked from 1 to 5. We will use a points system - like F1 - for each race. Starting with 25 points for making the top pick, 18 for your second pick, 15 for your 3rd driver pick, 12 points for 4th and 10 for your 5th pick.

For example, if you pick drivers in this order -

1. kimi
2. seb
3. valeri
4. daniel
5. max

and the 3rd podium spot goes to max, you will get 10 points that for that race.

The dead line to submit your nominations is one hour before the official start time of the race. (Please determine that to your own local time zone.) Once you have entered your first race challenge I will use your previous driver picks if you miss the deadline...

Hamilton is out of engines and gearboxes, so the next change means he has a 10 place penalty.. I wouldn't go handing MB 1 and 2 for the rest of the season.

I'll make my prediction Saturday. A lot of crap going on this race. Lewis and Alonso-new engines=grid penalty, 48% of the tires on pit lane are super softs and in the heat they are seeing they only last 3/4 of a lap before going off. Nico may not have Lewis to contend with at the start but Max is going to be there, for sure.:cert:

I think he's going to have trouble with the merc powered cars this weekend. Tomorrows qual results will be a better indication of the pace.

I agree, this track is just what Mercedes needs to shine, but Red Bull has made some serious improvements lately and Max has youth and foolishness on his side. Today's P2 was a tire test for Nico and Lewis and nothing more.

I knew Lewis was starting in the back yesterday. The last time he was moved to the back he made it up to about third place, and I figured he would do the same at Spa. I did not think he would pass both Red Bulls & both Ferraris, but it was a foregone conclusion he would be close.

1) Vettel - if he's going to get on a podium based on performance, this is it.
2) Rosberg - His starts are the suck. Vettel beats him through turn one, and possibly Kimi as well.
3) Ricciardo - Would be higher if I had more confidence in Rosberg.
4) Verstappen - Keep it together Max, keep it together.
5) Raikkonen - because...Monza

You need to pick the 3rd place finisher in each race.

You can have up to 5 different driver pics for each race.

If your 1st pic finishes in 3rd place you get 25 points
2nd pic gets 18 points
3rd pic 15 points
4th pic 12 points
5th pic 10 points

Points are cummulative.

You dont have to pic 5 drivers. (hoog only picked Hamilton in the first race)
Meaning you can pick the same driver 5 times, 4 times, 3 times or twice.
If you have already picked before (vetteboy79), I will use your previous picks if you dont make the deadline or change your list for the current race.

Fortunantly, the open end was pointed away from my direction of travel, but I guess I hit the end of the wall just in front of the drivers side. I then spun across the on ramp into that wall 3 times after that. Left rear corner first. Took out a road construction sign along the way. Broke out the driver side window with my shoulder and cheek bone. Waiting on appraisel, but the only panel not damaged was the upper rear passenger quarter panel, top and other windows.

Thanks for the well wishes and concerns. I was in the C4 so RWD. :( The most fortunate part for everyone was that the two cars that had just passed me and the other 4 cars around me - all took the last exit before the fly over and I was the only car still on the tollway traveling South.

Another accident occured in the north bound lanes at the same time and it ended up with two multi car pile ups on that side. When i got out of the car the water along the barrier was ankle deep - just a freaky micro down burst.

The exterior estimate for repairs was $22,500 with a salvage value of $4700, so I am shopping for our next 'Vette. I am guessing I rolled up one of the walls, becasue I thought the side mirror houses were plastic, but they are metall and the drivers side one just rolled up beside the door.

In the back ground you can see the end of the barrier I hit just over the left fender of the SUV and where the construction sign was setting. Those are the sand bags still on the ground. The dark spot behind the police SUV is the drivers side window. I think I was just about where the white vehicle is in the middle lane when the front started hydroplanning first. I am sure it was only a second or two, but it did seem to take awhile before I hit the first wall. The second wall was a lot faster in coming.
