Time to let the 525i go and I'm likeing the Rustangs.
This one has caught our fancy.
I have not driven one yet but the 2015's look awesome to me and could be the timeless design that I'm looking for in a car.
Does anyone he one in a 6 cyl and how do you like it?
Is this a decent price for the mileage?

I think you'll like it. V6 has plenty of power, likely more reliable/durable than the ecoboost. Can't argue with the looks, or bang-for-the-buck. :seasix:

I will admit my wife's 06 mustang pony (V6) gets more compliments and looks than either of my vettes ever have :leaving: It is also very comfortable and well built/easy to maintain. Different generation obviously, but ford did things right with the mustang, she will probably get a 17 or 18 as a replacement

On her mechanic's recommendation, my sister in NH did exactly that after owning a Caddie. She loves the infinity.
My wife loves the car in the OP, so we'll drive a few and check out the Infinitis as well.
You know how that goes though......

Bought my wife a 2016 Mustang with the Ecoboost in it. It's a hoot to drive. If you haven't piloted a Mustang in a while get behind the wheel and check one out. The ride and handling is actually pretty good! Plus they look great!

:funnier: :funnier:

Agreed on the color of the first one as well. I think the new ones are really sharp looking cars.

I'd love to find one with the ecoboost to play with though.
I got my F150 with the 3.5 EB and it responds incredibly well to just a tune.

With 2 hair dryers, you can really wind up the power for some fun and still set it for decent gas mileage. :yesnod:

I knew the first couple years of the EB motors had some caking on the intake valves (as do almost all direct injected motors) but I thought Ferd engineers worked out a fix on the newer engines.

I have over a half-million trouble free miles behind me in two Ford pickups, and almost 400,000 trouble free miles in Ford passenger cars. Cancel that- I forgot the Taurus (it's pushing 160K). Add in Father in law's Crown Vic and F150, and we add another 375K miles to the total. Tough to argue with that kind of owner experience. I personally wouldn't buy a f'ecking Nissan product if you paid me (which is all any infinity is).

I'd think about Lexus, but after owning a nice Camry, I'd have to ask the question "why spend the extra money?"

*Edit: crap, forgot about two Expeditions, two Mustangs, and a F350. Dang I've owned a lot of Fords over the years.

Ask Scott today, he is 6'-5". He fits comfortably but also added if you're the same height and have a bad back, it could be a deal killer.

No modification required; just a tune. :yesnod:
You can go from stock to mild to wild and it takes about 3 minutes to reflash the PCM.
That's the beauty of hair dryers.

The nice part about a reputable tuner is that they don't shoot for big numbers. They aim for a significant performance increase while maintaining reliability.

The Stang tune is only a 60hp/90tq increase which equates to ~5 psi additional boost.
The F150 picks up 100hp/125tq. Max tune puts me at 450hp/550tq and it is hella fun especially in these lighter truck frames.

Only if they're a shitty operator. A good dealer will want to wrap it up before the weekend. A smart dealer will assume you will be shopping this weekend and will likely have a new car by Tuesday.

I just called and offered $18.7k. They countered with $19.2k. WTF?

A while back, a Mazda dealership nearby had the model and color car my wife wanted. It was a very low mileage executive car but had a few pricey options that I didn't want. They were offering a slight discount on the car.

I went up to the dealership with a blank check in my pocket.

Negotiations ground to a halt with $300 separating what they asked and what I wanted to pay. I walked.

Early the following week, when I got the inevitable call from the sales rep that "he talked it over with the manager and would meet my price," I had already gone to another local dealership and submitted an order for the exact model, color, and options we wanted.

Things may be different in your part of the country, but here the salesman seldom knows what they paid for the car. The rule of thumb here is the original asking price usually has about 4K profit built in to it. They will sell in a heartbeat for 2K profit, last day of the month if you find a manager trying to make a quota or hit a bonus, they'll do it for 1K or even 500 profit. Bottom line is to remember, the salesman does not discount the car, the manager does. That's who you are negotiating with, although not face to face.

And they call car salesmen liars.:D

Seriously, in order to make sure he isn't just telling you what you want to hear just to get you to come in, tell him you want those numbers emailed to you by the General Manager.

BTW... Its now the 15th and the end of the month that they need to hit their numbers. The 15th is two days away.

It's all end of the month here, but like I said, things could be different in your part of the country.

Do dealers get incentives from finance companies?

I'd go 5% :yesnod:

The guy lied to me ! He told me that $17.5 was $500 over what they took the car in for. I call BS !
The residual on that thing was probably $13k and with the BS surrender fees that they extorted, they're still making plenty of money.
:D

No residual or surrender fees on a rental car. They just go to the auction and buy them.

I've been out of the business long enough, and was not involved much in finance when I was selling cars to give a valid answer to that in the present. The big thing I was aware of in the early to mid 2000s was F&I people could add interest points above what the finance company was offering and pocket the difference. Around '07 or so finance companies began limiting that to 1.5 or 2%. Before that some F&I people were making 20K a month.

I know.
My best friend was a car salesman.
He is basically coaching me on what to do.
Hell! I was gonna pay $19k for it.
My buddy has called the thing, exactly how it has played out so far.
He actually told me to come back with $13.5 :Jeff '79:
From $21.9 to $17.5 is good and if I can scam it for $16.5, I'll have sparks shooting out of my azz.
Tomorrow will tell :ball:

:waiting:

I just went out to breakfast with my son-in-law, who has been selling cars for over 25 years. I told him about your situation and he said if the salesman calls you and agrees to your price, tell him to write up the contract and bring the car to your house. Then you will see if he is for real or not.

Ya so he called and left a message to call him.
I called today and he said it's good to go at $17k. I'm like great ! Write it down and e-mail it to me. Then the shit got weird.
To cut a long story short, he made up some BS about me offering $19k and my down payment yadda, yadda, yadda.
I said the offer is $17k. Period
I'll put $3500 down and with tax, I'll finance $15k. What's so fk'n hard to understand about that?
I sent him an e-mail yesterday all spelled out like this.
Offer -$17,000 @ 3.5% 60 months
$17k x 8.75%tax = $1487.50 + $17k = $18,487.50 - $3k down = $15,487.50 Financed
$15,487 @ 3.5% = $282/ month payment at 60 months

What a fk'n douche bag. That stealership is almost an hour away, and if I didn't ask for the write down, I would have gone out there and been furious like I am right now.
Your SIL was right on the money.

If they call you back, your offer is now $17k out the door, including tax. Make them eat it. I can't imagine you're still wanting to buy that car from them at this point.

I am thoroughly pissed.
I'm not chasing the bastard. He can let the vert rot over the winter and sell it for $15.5 in the spring for all I care.
Fk'n dumass. Ya, i'm pissed that he acted so stupid.
That's why I don't go to stealerships. Total waste of time.

Truecar isn't helpful for this particular unit (https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-for-sale/listing/1FATP8EM0F5352550/2015-ford-mustang/). Even less helpful for other units (https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-for-sale/listings/ford/mustang/year-2015/location-14103/body-convertible/?used_opt=usedmake) in that area.

I can't blame you for being pissed, they lied to you. And I was in the business for years. Stupid sales tactic, never works with a potential customer who can buy whatever he wants.

If the dealer was any good, they would have taken your best offer before you left if they could do it without losing money and had you leave in your new car.

That sucks.

I had a dealership do that crap with me when I looked at a used Grand Prix GTP a few months back. Got them down as low as I thought I could, went back and some guy had bought it over the internet. Ended up with the G8 which was better :steering:

I will say I did have a rental Mustang convertible in Vegas a few months ago and it did not suck... :steering:
