My daughter, (a few of you will remember her for the other site where I posted/boasted on her) picked this up Monday evening.

She recently passed the MSC and got a waiver for the MC endorsement, but all of a sudden, her 250 Yammy Star just didn't cut it. Her husband has a 2015 flat black Dyna 1-up something or other, so another HD was the only recourse.
I let her use my FLSTC, but it was just too bulky/cumbersome for her.

This is a '96 1200. 4500 original miles, been in storage at a local dealer since 2010, when the owner died in a car accident (dude around my age).
She bought it from the 2nd owner's son, who held on this long for sentimental attachment, but the time had finally come.
Local dealer serviced it back to good health, the freaking thing is like brand new. I test rode it for her, as niether she of the Son-in-law are familiar with carb beasts. The thing is awesome for her, and the husband won't ride it because of the color.

Going to be a great Labor day weekend. 2 of my 3 kids are HD owners now, and this area is big in celebrating HD anniversaries every LD, the 5th year ending in 3s or 8s are the big parties. We'll have a good (sober) time.
MY 2 brothers also are HD owners, so its a family bike weekend.

He thinks his leather-covered male friends will think it's too pretty and hump him out of pure jealust...

Good find! My Geezer Glide is also a '96 although it's fuel injected. I *think* '96 was the first year fuel injection was an option on the big twin. My Uncle also has a '96 Bagger but his is carbureted.

Some maybe all of these had an adjustable suspension on them too, and you just can't beat the EVO for reliability.

4500 miles in 20 years? That's 225miles/year for crying out loud. I put that on last Sunday. (I was completely lost and starting to worry about fuel but that's another thread. :) )

I like the color. A 1200 Sportster would be too small for me, though. Perfect for the pirate pictured, though.

As soon as I put my left foot on the peg for the test ride, I got a stabbing pain in my left hip. When I took off and put my right foot up, sciatic nerve let me know I'm too feckin old for these short legged contortionist machines.
Had a back-ache for 3 days (serious).
 It does have highway pegs, but I frown on no controls with those buggers.
At least it has a two-up seat. If I ever ride it again, I'll be sitting on the passenger seat so I can extend my legs.

Floor boards are the way to go.
But for the kid, it's perfect until she outgrows it. Probably year or two.

Hey Thomas, This 1200 has 11 more factory HP than my '94 FLSTC 1340. WTF?

Kind of funny when I posted that 8 years ago over there.
Dude in the white is my FIL, so that's gramps.
Guy on the far right is my oldest son and his wife with their newborn daughter in the stroller.
All the other dudes are pervs.

Beats me. I think the cam's are the same, (69camfrk?) maybe? Different case? Some of the parts are interchangeable I know that. I'm sure that Sporty would humiliate the Heritage though. It's a LOT lighter.

All the other dudes are normal.

 :cert:

May have more HP but don't forget to look at TQ as well as TQ under the curve.
