Matt Lauer reported talking with Lochte about all this by phone once Lochte returned to the States. According to Lauer, Lochte has changed his story a bit.
First Lochte had said they were pulled over while driving & that a gun was put to his forehead & cocked. Second time Lochte said they stopped at a gas station to use the bathroom & were confronted there before leaving. Also said the gun was just pointed in his direction & cocked. Not placed against his forehead as he first said.

He said that around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Lochte, along with fellow swimmers Jack Conger, Gunnar Bentz and Jimmy Feigen, stopped at a gas station in Barra da Tijuca, a suburb of Rio where many Olympic venues are located. One of the swimmers tried to open the door of an outside bathroom. It was locked.
A few of the swimmers then pushed on the door and broke it. A security guard appeared and confronted them, the official said.
The official says the guard was armed with a pistol, but he never took it out or pointed it at the swimmers.
According to the official, the gas station manager then arrived. Using a customer to translate, the manager asked the swimmers to pay for the broken door. After a discussion, they did pay him an unknown amount of money and then left.
The official says that swimmers Conger and Bentz, who were pulled off a plane going back to the United States late Wednesday, told police that the robbery story had been fabricated.
Meantime, a man traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Houston says he watched as a U.S. Olympic swimmer was pulled off his plane before taking off.
Team USA swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were questioned about claims they were robbed last weekend in Rio. This all happened just hours after a judge ordered gold medalist Ryan Lochte and teammate Jimmy Feigen to stay in the country.
Rod Rodriguez spoke with Eyewitness News after the plane that should have carried Conger and Bentz back to the U.S. arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Rodriguez says that it was a pretty quiet scene and that the whole thing was handled quickly.

Conger and Bentz were escorted through the airport by police in Brazil after they were detained.
Rodriguez was unable to say whether he saw Conger or Bentz being pulled off the plane, but knows it lasted only about 30 seconds.
"They came by and said they needed to depart the plane, and the security person took them off the plane," Rodriguez says. "He just stood up, grabbed his water bottle and left."
Meantime, officials in Brazil say the stories about the alleged robbery of the Team USA swimmers doesn't add up.
Lochte and Feigen were asked to hand officials their passports, and Lochte has already made his way back to the U.S.

Of course none of my sailors were on TV and had millions of $$$ of endorsements waiting on them.
