Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer (Official) - YouTube

I cannot wait to see this.

Still, I think Disney will have a problem getting The Norms clued into the fact that this isn't actually "The Next Star Wars Movie"...

"Why is it a new girl?"

"Where's that black stormtrooper kid?"

"Where's Choobacker?"

From what I understand, this fits in the Episode 3.5 area. The trailers are looking great, can't wait to see this one. :seasix:

It's the resurrection, mofos!!

Who's seen this phenomenal film?!!?!?!?

It's become my new favorite Star Wars flick, just edging out Empire. SO. DAMN. GOOD.

That ending... DAMN!!!

It was good!!!! Really enjoyed it. Missed the opening crawl sequence, but I feel the way they started the movie made more sense.

This movie, unlike Episode 7, did not suck.

6 times so far, and I'm booked up through Friday and #10, and I've got 10 more shows budgeted after that. Only one chance to see these on the big screen... gotta see it now.

Third on my list for me, after Empire and ANH.

I'm not feeling the score, but I'm giving Giachhino a pass because it isn't offensive and he had ZERO time to score the film. It could have been REALLY bad and it's merely a non entity.

Spoilers Below. Below here Spoilers. If you keep reading, I'm going to give away shit.

.
Can we f*cking stop with the shoe-horned call backs please? "You better watch yourself!" F*ck off. There's enough damn Original Trilogy Porn on the screen I did not need Dr. Evazan and Ponda F*cking Baba hamming it up making a friggin' mess of the timeline. Ditto Artoo and Threepio. At that moment, they should have been on the flagship, with Leia, leaving for Scarif. Bullshit continuity error, just so everyone can have that THERE THEY ARE!1!! OH MY GOD!!! I CAME IN MY PANTS!!! THERE THEY ARE!!1!

F*ck me.

Ok, those are my two gripes.

The rest of it is pure pornography. The rest of it is the best Star Wars you can possibly ever hope to make. We don't need a bullshit love story, so we don't have one. We don't need bullshit backstories for the whole gang, so we don't have them. We don't need long drawn out, maudlin death monologues from everyone. This movie is lean, mean, and agile.

I will grant that it asks an awful lot of the casual viewer, especially without giving them the benefit of an opening text crawl to clue them into a few things. That would have really helped The Normals so much, IMO...

That second half is just a freight train... and the last 2 minutes is really hilariously awesome. I've looked very closely at the whole sequence, comparing it to ANH and ESB, and they were very careful and clever to make sure that Rogue One Vader doesn't actually do anything that A New Hope Vader couldn't have done. They push it a little, in terms of speed, but his actual range of motion is very much similar to what we've already seen him do, we've just never seen him go against non-Force users before. Impressive, most impressive.

As a fan of Special Effects, I was very impressed with Governor Tarkin and to a lesser extent Princess Leia. They aren't perfect, but Tarkin only runs into the Uncanny Valley a few times, and he's on screen A LOT and much of it in close up. The effect is far more successful than a similar actor recreation earlier this year with de-aging Robert Downey Jr 20 years in Captain America Civil War, and light years ahead of the Jeff Bridges recreation in Tron Legacy. I think the issue with Leia is the word they chose to have her say, "O" shapes being difficult to achieve.

I loved that most of the movie was practical effects and digital seems to be used to enhance, rather than create wholesale.

I'm most impressed that Disney really did kill them all. They understood what this story required, and didn't back down. They didn't use some crappy cop out, put them in Imperial jail, or some Deus Ex K2SO...

... and I'm SO HAPPY they didn't shoe horn in a cameo from Han, Chewie and the Millennium Falcon... stupid f*cking call backs...

I actually didn't hate the cantina duo. Did feel like droids were a HUGELY gratuitous shot and felt very shoehorned in.

Loved the subtle 'Rebels' shout outs. Loved the repurposed ANH Xwing cockpit footage.

Tarkin taking away DS was hilarious. Vader was scary, menacing and all around badass. I LOVED that last scene.

I actually didn't hate the cantina duo.

Ditto. Got a good chuckle out of me.

Did feel like droids were a HUGELY gratuitous shot and felt very shoehorned in.

Should have been on the ship with Leia, not in the temple.

Loved the subtle 'Rebels' shout outs.

I missed a few, having watched some easter egg reviews.

Loved the repurposed ANH Xwing cockpit footage.

I had to do a double take...

Tarkin taking away DS was hilarious. Vader was scary, menacing and all around badass. I LOVED that last scene.

Tarkin worked very well. Was the best CGI character I've seen to date.

Leia was good, but a little "off".

I thought they were at the Rebel base on Yavin 4.

They should have been in orbit, aboard the Tantive IV, docked with Raddus' ship, which was leaving for Scarif momentarily... when the cameo happens, the X-Wings are taking off for Scarif...

ApexOversteer

Not how I saw it.

They could have that shot, then been called to a shuttle which went to the ship which left for Scarif.

I agree they weren't necessary and if they wanted to put them in the movie could have been done at a better place (like headed to the escape ship when Vader was mowing down the rebels).

I don't know, just once could we see the friggin' protocol droid DO HIS JOB? How about the guy with the data tape hits the bridge and 3PO has to announce him...

"Your Highness..."

Gives Tony his line and his unbroken record, puts them where they needed to be seen.

It was just so clumsy and lame. Beneath the rest of the movie, IMO>

Yes the X-wings are taking off but, like I said, who's to say moments later they weren't off in a shuttle off to Raddus' ship?

Unnecessary? Sure.

THAT big of a deal? Nah.

But if those minor things are the biggest gripes we can have about the movie just shows what an amazing job they did, IMHO. :yesnod:

The better the movie is, the bigger the little gripes become! :D

I thought they were at the Rebel base on Yavin 4.

The rebel base on Yavin 4 was a Massassi temple (granted, pretty sure that's getting into the novels...)

I didn't see it as a continuity error. They could have easily been shuttled up to a capital ship after that scene.

But I saw it as a missed opportunity to actually put them on the ship.
