VIR - GT Only - Aug 28th

The next IMSA WeatherTech Challenge Race will be held at Virginia International Raceway on August 28th at 1:35 EDT.

What will be interesting about this race is that it will be the GT cars (GT LeMans and GT Daytona) only. The Prototype and Prototype Challenge cars will sit this race out.

Currently, the #4 Corvette leads the #67 Ford GT by 13 points for the class lead with three races to go. The #3 Corvette is third in class but is 28 points back of the Ford GT and only three points ahead of the #67 Ferrari.

VIR has to be the best track to watch a race. Get a golf cart, and drive anywhere you want. Word of caution: Oak Tree tavern is closed to non VIR members or race teams during the entire weekend. Hotels can be a hassle as well as they are at least 20-45 min. from the track.

It appears that the #4 Corvette had problems and finished several laps of the lead, however the #3 Corvette did win the race.

If I have figured the points correctly it appears that the #4 Corvette C7.R still leads GTLM with a 7-point margin over the #67 Ford GT with only two races (Circuit of the Americas and Petit LeMans) remaining.
