Doctor surprised me Friday with an invitation to the OR Saturday morning to have yet another section of my thigh removed. Great... 12 hours fasting, 4 vials of blood work, that freezing f*ckin' OR, and now it feels like I have a 200lb pitbull made of molten magma clamped onto the back of my leg.
Percocet/Oxycodone sucks. It doesn't work. Just makes me feel like I ate a thousand live crickets. I don't even like filling the scrip, because they always ask those questions they ask to try and tell if you're getting them because you're an addict, and of course their records have me getting it prescribed regular-like but not really regular enough to not look like I'm a seeker and a junkie...
And f*ck that behotch at Target that gave me static because I was standing there for 10 minutes waiting to even request my scrip and she thought she was gonna cut right in and get her blood pressure medication. Chivalry is dead, lady... and if you don't waddle your fat ass out my way, so shall you be.
But hey... I'm under 345lbs... into the 330's by Labor Day I say... my Blood work/A1C numbers were "awesome in the biblical use", and yadda-yadda cholesterol blah blah fantastic, and so it's not all that bad.

Can I have the Percoset?
It's actually Oxycodone, 10/650's, doctor says they're the same thing... I'm told they're good if you grind 'em up into powder and snort them. I've had several requests, might have to auction the remainders off...

INVITATION TO THE OR SATURDAY TO HAVE YET ANOTHER SECTION OF MY THIGH REMOVED

Last year, I had a large infection on the back of my left thigh. One doctor thinks it started as a benign cyst, or an ingrown hair follicle, that got infected, another thinks that a chair I was using at the time cut circulation off to a small section of my thigh, associated with a fat fold. She thinks that area of flesh starved of blood and died, causing the infection.
Either way, I ended up in ICU for four days, and had three surgeries to drain the infection and remove the necrotic flesh. Since then I've been battling recurring infections in the area. I've also injured myself by choosing poorly where to sit (concrete block wall), and caused arterial bleeders into an area of loose flesh, resulting from the multiple surgeries. I've had three other surgeries since last year's major, this one was number 4.
I see my doctor every two weeks and Friday's appt she didn't like what she saw. CT scan found a new pocket of infection, and we're off to the races. Back on the anti-biotics and back to seeing her once a week.
She took a little bit this time, and put in a drain. Drain hopefully comes out Thursday...

A tiger ate his leg. No worries, though, it'll just grow back, right?

Thanks! I appreciate any such karma sent my way. :cert:
I try and keep up a good attitude. Lord knows I'm not suffering as much as some people do every day.
That said, I would really just like to go a good 6 weeks without someone cutting me, or all of a sudden leaving puddles of goo everywhere I go. I'd like to sit down in a theater to watch a movie again. Batman V Superman was a real task, standing up the whole time...

I have been having problems with my right shoulder, and have to go back to the Ortho on Tuesday to see what the results of the MRI say. Xrays already showed arthritis, but I think there is something else going on, and I am in constant pain. I've never asked a doc for pain killers, but I'm damn near that point. I guess I worry about getting hooked on them after a steady dose like so many other people. Not sure what course I should take....:sadangel:

According to 60 Minutes this evening, heroin is a widely available and cheaper substitute for Percocet.

I've heard so many bad things about Percocet, yet I used probably 200 of them after lung surgery back around 1990 with no ill effects. When I woke up in the A.M., I could barely move in bed until my wife got it for me & I waited 20 minutes for it to take effect. After that, I was good for 4 hours or so until the next dose.
I never had the constipation problems that others report, and had no withdrawal problems. As I got better, I took it less often, and eventually no longer felt the need for it.
I do understand, however, how people can get addicted or otherwise dependent on it. When it started to work, besides getting rid of my pain, I just felt that life was great. Optimistic, looking forward to the future, thankful for everything, etc.
I suppose that some people are predisposed to becoming addicted. I'm glad I'm not; I have enough trouble keeping my Scotch consumption under control. :cert:
