Thank you to those who laid down their lives for America, in her service.

Now, I'm putting my flame suit on.

The BEST way we can honor the memory of our war dead is to keep our current and future soldiers OUT of harms way, unless absolutely necessary. Vietnam, Iraq, and the fustercluck that Afghanistan became were not necessary, and did nothing to make us safer. Perhaps moving forward, we won't vote for politicians that 1) supported those wars, and 2) are likely to support more misadventure that gets our brave soldiers killed.

I was in country for 8 months in 67. Navy wouldn't send me so I got out in 66 and got a job repairing the good old Huey. It still amazes me how many bullet holes they can have and still get home. The hardest part of the job was when the bird was a medevac and before you even started working was having to wash the blood off the deck. Not the best paying job I ever had, but definitely the most rewarding.

Memorial Day is to honor the fallen.

Veterans Day is to honor those who have served.

Don't get me wrong, everyone in the military should be honored and both, and every day, but I never knew the difference in the 2 days.
