Default Ever go to one of those 'Great Wolf Lodge' places? (with irrelevant pic)
We have some friends that go twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring just to kind of get away form the cold I think. They love it but I wondered if anyone here would have an opinion? I know we all like to keep our opinions to ourselves but I encourage you all to be candid.

This. It's still fun though. My ex-wife and i went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX once and it was fun. I wouldn't go for an extended stay, though.

I do love the Wilderness Lodge, at Disney world. It is based on the national parks great lodges, minus the kid slides. I also love a rustic cabin in the mtns. with a 50 mile view. They have something similar to what you posted near Pigeon Forge. Wilderness at the Smokies.

I prefer real wilderness, or a fair approximation thereof. Richard Russell state park comes to mind... Lake view cabins, private docks and a 300 foot buffer around the entire lake perimeter so you can pull deep into a backwater and experience true silence... no planes, trains or traffic noise. Surface water temps in the mid 80s or so this time of year... float until you are a prune. It is bliss.
