Thanks Wendy for that, and I agree with the politics staying over in the PR&C forum.
The biggest difference is that we are inundated with your news and politics in the media, whereas you are only given little tiny snippets of ours (by an extremely biased news media) ....not nearly enough for you all to make any judgments about our leaders or politics in general. I've lived in the states and have always been amazed at how little people know about the world or their neighbors, and how little it's covered by the press.

Years ago when Becki and I went to Australia I was absolutely amazed how much the people we met knew about American politics and who all the officials were. These were not people in the urban areas like Sydney or Canberra. These were ranchers living in the outback.

first stage was simple: one target, 7 yards away. draw and fire 5 shots to the body, one shot to the head. i did that, without any misses, in 4.42 seconds. way faster than last month (6+ seconds with a miss). haven't shot pistol in a month, so yay me!

i'm good to at least 35 yards. just need to slow a beat and aim carefully.

in our squad, i won that stage (full scores will be posted later today, don't know how the other squad did on that stage).

this same stage was shot at the world championships in Sept, the winning time was 2.33 sec with no misses. on a good day i can draw and get the first shot off under 1.6 seconds.

as we were waiting our turns, several of us were discussing the election results and riots.

i noted that if you want to stand and yell, knock yourself out, but don't start throwing rocks in my direction. i have 38 rounds on my person at all times. $1/round. don't make me have to buy more tomorrow.

Freedom of speech is just fine, but you don't win people over to your way of thinking by breaking windows and blocking traffic.

to the protestors: so you think i'm wrong. fine, use logic, reason to persuade me to change my viewpoint. rioting, destroying property, assaulting innocent people is a very poor tactic and only make me want to be better prepared to repel you and your attacks. and further strengthens my conclusion that i'm right and you are not.

I'll have to see if I can find my old NRA pins. I was a "Qualified Expert" when I was 16. We shot with .22 target rifles. I don't remember which make. Probably Winchesters. Probably couldn't shoot that well now with open or peep sights.
