I don't plan on panicking, or robbing anyone. Most folks like to help out in an emergency, but don't want to be taken advantage of. When the dollar collapses, everything will shut down for a week, maybe three. But during that time cows will be milked and crops will be picked, water and electric plants will operate, and truckers, as long as they have fuel, will deliver goods.

Cops will still be doing their jobs arresting thieves, and with guys like Stever running around waving his gun around, that will be very busy.

The problem will be that there will be few avenues for exchange. Bartering will be the norm. Luxury items will be worthless relative to toilet paper and food. Silver coins will be very good for bartering.

Now if someone comes to my castle and tries to steal my stuff, all bets are off.

All of us born in 1960 or after got ****ed the hardest.

Despite that, I have been saying for a few decades that there should be a plan in place to phase in a delay of the "first opportunity to collect" from 62 to 65, "normal retirement age" should phase in a delay from 67 to 70, and we should phase out the "enhanced benefit". I even said I would be OK with a small further delay in my benefits, but believe it or not, it is the young folks who have been so staunchly against it, all while claiming that "baby boomers ruined social security".

Meh, not so much. When The Great Ponzi Scheme started, the retirement age was nearly equal to the life expectancy. If they had kept it that way, then there is no way that it would be teetering on bankruptcy today.
