sending videos and photos is faster as whatsapp compresses videos. Try sending a 5 min HD video via text message.

Nothing worse that some idiot you do not care about calling you while out of the country, and then viewing your next cell bill with $50+ of international calling charges.

Nope. You're paying for those calls. WhatsApp uses WiFi to make calls. I use WhatsApp if we're on a cruise or traveling out of the country.

T-Mobile has WiFi calling, so, whenever you are connected to WiFi, you are connected to the US phone network and calls to the US are free.

WhatsApp is owned by Facebook. Facebook's entire business model revolves around collecting and selling your personal information. There are better apps to use for free international communication than WhatsApp.
