we can thank Pope Gregory XIII for the Gregorian Calendar, which introduced Leap Day every 4 years

not much of a party type, but he was busy with other matters.

Quote:
The Gregorian calendar modified the Julian calendar's regular cycle of leap years, years exactly divisible by four,[6] including all centurial years, as follows:

Every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 100; the centurial years that are exactly divisible by 400 are still leap years. For example, the year 1900 is not a leap year; the year 2000 is a leap year.[7]

In addition to the change in the mean length of the calendar year from 365.25 days (365 days 6 hours) to 365.2425 days (365 days 5 hours 49 minutes 12 seconds), a reduction of 10 minutes 48 seconds per year, the Gregorian calendar reform also dealt with the past accumulated difference between these lengths. Between AD 325 (when the First Council of Nicaea was held, and the vernal equinox occurred approximately 21 March), and the time of Pope Gregory's bull in 1582, the vernal equinox had moved backward in the calendar, until it was occurring on about 11 March, 10 days earlier. The Gregorian calendar therefore began by skipping 10 calendar days, to restore March 21 as the date of the vernal equinox.

So next week may be the end of my PT. He wants to do one more week and see how it goes with me just being in the gym and him not doing any stretching on me. If it goes good, he will put me on an exercise program to do at home to manage the pain and hopefully ultimately get it to go away.

and for those geeks:

is_leap_year = ( year modulo 4 is 0 ) and ( ( year modulo 100 is not 0 ) or ( year modulo 400 is 0 ) )

and for those ladies pining for a man, you are in luck:

Quote:
On the British isles, it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years. While it has been claimed that the tradition was initiated by Saint Patrick or Brigid of Kildare in 5th century Ireland, this is dubious, as the tradition has not been attested before the 19th century.[8] Supposedly, a 1288 law by Queen Margaret of Scotland (then age five and living in Norway), required that fines be levied if a marriage proposal was refused by the man; compensation ranged from a kiss to £1 to a silk gown, in order to soften the blow.[9] In some places the tradition was tightened to restricting female proposals to the modern leap day, February 29, or to the medieval (bissextile) leap day, February 24.

and if you don't have a calendar handy:

Quote:
For the Gregorian calendar, Zeller's congruence is

for the Julian calendar it is

where
h is the day of the week (0 = Saturday, 1 = Sunday, 2 = Monday, ...)
q is the day of the month
m is the month (3 = March, 4 = April, 5 = May, ..., 14 = February)
K the year of the century ().
J is the century (actually ) (For example, in 1995 the century would be 19, even though it was the 20th century.)
NOTE: In this algorithm January and February are counted as months 13 and 14 of the previous year. E.g. if it is February 2, 2010, the algorithm counts the date as the second day of the fourteenth month of 2009 (14/02/2009 in MM/DD/YYYY format)

ahhh, my brain is full, may i be excused??

I'd say that is about half of what it was...some days it is more, some less, but overall it is better. It's going to take awhile regardless but its going to be on me in the end.

The first week and half he would do work on me a bit as far as stretching out my back and now he has stopped and we just been doing stuff in the gym. So as long as I'm not hurting as bad as I was...he will cut me loose and give me the list of things to do at home.

Jess is still thinking of moving up here...her main hang up right now is her job. She has a decent job that could probably lead to somewhere in the county or up to the state...but she just does not like it like she thought she would.

She feels bad because she knows she is lucky to have it...but its extremely stressful and taking its toll on her.

I basically told her that if she does not think she can handle it then she needs to talk to her boss/supervisor and lay out her concerns and maybe stick around long enough for them to train a replacement. I know jobs are hard to come by, but if its going to make her unhappy then its just not worth it.

She is a 911 dispatcher in Loudon County, TN. The interview process was very intense and she really went through the wringer...she's been at it about 4 months or so. She's done every shift as part of her training but its a lot more stressful than she ever thought.

tell her thanks from all of us. i hope to never have to call 911, but if i do, i'd want to reach someone who could help me now.

that's a pretty important job, and people are counting on her to help them when they call.

I know that is my fear...I don't want her so overwhelmed that when the next person calls...she cannot help them.

Honestly I have all the faith in the world in her that she can do the job. I mean you'd have to be pretty cold hearted to not be affected in some way or another when someone is calling in screaming because their mom, dad, brother, sister, friend is dieing in their arms.
