Default Lt1 stroker preview

Well I wanted to post some pics of my new engine. I still have a lot to do but it's on the down hill side for sure. My engine bay looks like someone took a dump in it so that needs to be cleaned up among other things. The intake and valve covers aren't bolted down yet. It's taking a while because I've never done a build like this before. I did some engine work 30 some yrs ago on a roadrunner, but this is a lot more involved.

BTW, for those of you who saw and commented on my tranny thread, my TV cable did not come out the normal way. I had to drop the pan and unbolt the part that it hooked to. It has a tag on it that says GM re-manufactured so I assume it's not the original. I wish I new how many miles was on it.

Looks like you have a handle on it. Its easier to index the plugs while the engine is outside. Get them indexed.

Good tip. I had forgotten about that. The plugs in the pic are my old ones. Just put them in there to plug the holes.

Thanks. So looking at Pete's pics, when we replace the spark plugs, we want them in that orientation in the head. Would that exact orientation apply to all the 8 cylinders?

slightly to the exhaust valve. Four of my eight were pointing down. I learned this on Horsepower TV about two weeks before I got the plugs ready. I bet doing #7 got to be an extreme pleasure.

Pete,
How many plugs did you use to get the exact orientation? The article mentioned that it might take several boxes to get them right say within ±20°.

I bought the kit and I used a cap on all of them. All of them were off.

Got a few things done this weekend and dropped the tranny off at the transmission shop to get the shift kit and new seals put in.

Got the alt cleaned up (not polished but looks a lot better.

I've been working off and on smoothing out the alt/AC bracket.

This is my engine compartment looking like someone took a dump in it.

And this is after today, again not perfect but much better than before.

Awesome! SOOOOO awesome! I want to build a motor for my car... Ugh... So much I want to do!

Just an FYI... With those valve covers you are going to either have to shim or modify the Alt. bracket! I had to with mine

What does the cap look like? Is it a washer based on a thickness?

If you pay the plane ticket, we can talk about it. Sounds like a cool plan. One condition, I want to meet "The Snooki" I'd hit it.

Do you have single catholic moms nearby?
